To have a more productive life, it is important to practice easy habits that have a positive effect on performance. Establishing these productive habits takes time, but once ingrained, they will lead to a significant spike in productivity. Just as you brush your teeth every day, you will also perform these habits every day without any problems.
I will show you six easy habits, that can give you a productive lifestlye. Everyone of those habits is important and valueble for your life.
Easy Habits Nr. 1: Cold showers
Cold showers affect productivity, despite their apparent oddity. Incorporating cold showers into your routine is one of the most underrated but effective easy habits for a productive lifestyle. Cold showers are best utilized before starting the day, preferably ice cold. This can be a shock at first, but being in this uncomfortable situation will toughen you up. Above all, it will make you more disciplined, which will automatically make you work better and harder.
It’s also better to do the challenging things first during the day, including the cold shower. This way, you set the tone for a disciplined and structured day, which can lead to a noticeable spike in productivity. The harder it is for you to overcome, the easier your other tasks will be. As with all your other tasks, it’s simply a matter of “doing.” All productive people have this mindset of simply doing the hard things without hesitation. So try a cold shower the next morning and, over time, increase the degree of coldness and length.
Easy Habits Nr. 2: Get up early
Are you an early riser or a late riser? Waking up early is one of the most effective productive habits that can drastically improve your lifestyle. Getting up early has an advantage that you can use, especially if you get up at 5am. I used to wake and stay up late myself. So I was impressed by the effect of this habit. By getting up early, you are a step ahead of most people who are probably still asleep at this time of day.
This also means that you can get your work done earlier. If you start work at 6 AM, you will have already worked for 6 hours by 12 AM. Late risers only start working here. In addition, getting up early can lead to less stress and less depression; it is generally beneficial for your mental health. This is also due to the fact that your sleep rhythm improves dramatically, as we sleep better when it’s dark outside.
Do you work effectively in the evening? It’s very likely that you don’t, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this article. Instead of forcing yourself into inefficient late-night work, try switching to an early-morning schedule. Many successful people swear by this easy habit for maintaining a productive lifestyle. Note, however, that it takes a while before getting up early becomes easy.
Easy Habits Nr. 3: Daily exercise
Daily exercise is just as important as other habits, even if the effect on productivity is harder to recognize at first. However, the effects on physical and mental health are extremely important when it comes to performance. Depending on your current fitness level, you will feel much better after exercising for a while.
Sport not only makes you more efficient, it also makes you happy. It can also be a beneficial distraction from the stress of everyday life. A simple workout routine can provide a spike in productivity, improving both focus and energy levels. If you want to find more workouts, check out my article about underrated workouts.
Easy Habits Nr. 4: Creative Hobbies
In addition to being productive, you should also organize appropriate free time. It’s wonderful to work, but you also need free time for yourself. You shouldn’t just sit around watching TV or consuming social media; no, it should be something proactive and preferably creative. Such a hobby will give you a good balance between work and leisure, which will help you recharge faster and be more productive again. If you only work instead, you will gradually lose productivity and become inefficient.
We want to avoid this as much as possible. But this can also be any hobby, as long as it is creative. You can engage in anything from drawing to music. Engaging in creative hobbies is an easy habit that boosts mental well-being and supports long-term productivity.
In my case, I use my free time to care for and design my plants, especially bonsai trees. Find a hobby that you like, and yes, creative video games count too, as long as you don’t spend too much of the day in front of the PC. One important hobby that will also improve your education is reading; you can find out more about this here. After all, having a creative hobby will reduce your stress and therefore make you more productive.
Easy Habits Nr. 5: Meditation
One of the most important habits is meditation, which you should practice several times a day if possible. There is a wide variety of types of meditation with different effects. In the most common meditations, you focus on your breath, which can improve your focus immensely. But there are also other effects; e.g., meditation can help you fall asleep, fight addictions, or deal with negative feelings.
Developing the habit of meditation is one of the easiest and most effective productive habits for long-term success. One type of meditation that I often practice is contemplating my dreams and goals. This motivates me immensely and constantly reminds me of the path I want to take without getting distracted. Try it out for yourself; I can recommend the “Medito” app, which is available free of charge for Apple and Android.
Easy Habits Nr. 6: Journaling
Finally, the most important daily habit—journaling. Writing down your thoughts, goals, and reflections is a simple yet powerful productive habit that creates clarity and motivation. For this, you need paper and a pen—nothing more. You can take this with you wherever you go and make notes. It’s best to do this in the evening, but you can also do it in the morning.
Firstly, you should write down what you are grateful for. This helps you to better appreciate your life. Then write down your successes; this will give you a sense of achievement. Now write down all the problems you can think of and how you can improve them. Through this reflection, you can improve a little every day and have another slight edge. Finally, reflect on your emotions and events, anything that has affected you positively or negatively.
With this habit, you will quickly achieve success and have a more productive lifestyle; it’s best if you try it today. By implementing these easy habits into your daily routine, you’ll notice a steady spike in productivity, making every day more effective and fulfilling.
Conclusion
These easy habits will give you a huge benefit. Each of them has different aspects of why they change your life. Will it be easy to integrate them? No, of course not! But it will be worth it. They make you more disciplined so that you can do more work. This will result in more success in life if you know what to do with it. However, it will also improve your health; it will make you more fulfilled and resilient.
However, you still need to track them daily; otherwise, they won’t be easy habits. I advise you to download one tracker, whether you use Apple or Android. For Android, I highly advise the HabitNow app, which is free to download. I used it before, and it’s quite good. However, it is not available for Apple.
